Huawei (华为) Enjoy 90 Pro Max reportedly first to get HarmonyOS 6.1.0.125 SP9; per‑app volume control debuts

It has been reported that Huawei (华为) Enjoy 90 Pro Max (畅享 90 Pro Max) is the first device to receive the HarmonyOS 6.1.0.125 SP9 update. The OTA package is about 1.59GB, and the rollout—reported by IT之家—brings a mix of camera, UI and audio controls, including what Huawei says is the HarmonyOS phone debut of per‑app volume adjustment.

What's new in 6.1.0.125 SP9

The update adds an automatic watermark option for rear‑camera photos that can embed time, shooting location and a custom watermark when enabled. Lock‑screen editing has been expanded (Settings > Desktop & Personalisation > Lock screen) to allow clock style and signature edits plus card additions. The Gallery’s smart album section can now be collapsed for easier management. On audio, the update introduces a separate notification‑ring volume bar so call ringtone and notification volumes can be adjusted independently; in vibrate or silent mode the notification volume is automatically muted. Per‑app volume control is activated by pressing the volume key and swiping left to open the panel (requires enabling Settings > Sound & Vibration > App volume separate adjustment). Three‑key navigation can also be hidden via Settings > System > System Navigation.

Why it matters

Why should Western readers care? Small, practical features like per‑app volume controls and richer lock‑screen editing show Huawei continuing to refine HarmonyOS as a competitor to Android skins and iOS, improving day‑to‑day usability rather than chasing headline specs. That matters in the context of ongoing US export controls and broader geopolitical pressure that have pushed Huawei to accelerate its own software ecosystem and reduce dependence on foreign platforms. Incremental UX gains can help retention even if Huawei faces component and international market constraints.

Rollout and availability

The update is being distributed via OTA and, as reported, appears targeted first at the Enjoy 90 Pro Max. Users should check Settings > System > Software update for availability. As always with staged rollouts, timing may vary by region and carrier.
