Huawei (华为) executive Yu Chengdong (余承东) shows Pura X Max foldable; official launch set for April 20

Yu Chengdong (余承东), Huawei (华为)’s consumer-business chief, today posted the first public images of a working Pura X Max foldable on Xiaohongshu, it has been reported. The post previews the actual device and confirms the handset will be unveiled at Huawei’s Pura series and all-scenario launch on April 20 at 14:30 — an event the company already announced earlier this month.

Launch and lineup

Huawei’s Terminal BG CEO He Gang (何刚) has signaled that the Pura family will include more than just the Pura 90 series, promising “many all-scenario products” at the event. Reportedly, a popular Chinese tech leaker (@数码闲聊站) claims the Pura X Max will be an industry-first "landscape-wide" foldable that opens to about a 7.6‑inch main display; those details remain unconfirmed and should be treated as leaks for now.

Specs, pricing and wider context

As context, Huawei’s original Pura X launched last March with a distinctive 3.5‑inch square external display and a 6.3‑inch inner wide 16:10 screen; Huawei quoted a starting price of ¥7,499. The new X Max looks aimed at users who want tablet‑class screen area in a phone form factor. This push comes amid U.S. trade restrictions that have constrained Huawei’s access to some advanced silicon and components, driving the company to lean on in‑house innovations and domestic suppliers. Will a larger, landscape-style foldable accelerate Huawei’s premium comeback? Expect answers at the April 20 event.
