Changan Qiyuan (长安启源) launches A06 and all‑new Q05, starting at ¥89,900
Models and pricing
Changan Qiyuan (长安启源), the electric-vehicle marque of Changan Automobile (长安汽车), has launched an updated A06 and a refreshed Q05, with prices starting at ¥89,900. The two models are described as mid‑cycle facelifts rather than full redesigns; styling changes are modest but aimed at sharpening appeal in China's crowded EV market.
Design and interior highlights
The A06 keeps much of its existing silhouette but adds a curved full‑width light strip with 236 LEDs and customizable light effects, plus fashion touches such as frameless mirrors and doors. Interior upgrades include a wraparound cockpit that pairs a 10.17‑inch digital instrument cluster with a 15.6‑inch center screen, a hatchback tailgate, and new options such as an electric tailgate and 18‑inch low‑drag wheels. Dimensions for the A06 are 4,885 × 1,916 × 1,496 mm with a 2,922 mm wheelbase. The Q05 adopts a new “Qiyuan Digital‑Intelligent Wing 2.0” (启源数智飞翼 2.0) design language, adds a large 1.8 m² panoramic roof with electric shades, hidden recessed door handles, and a flexible cargo area that expands to 1,380 L; its body measures 4,435 × 1,855 × 1,600 mm with a 2,735 mm wheelbase.
Powertrains, compute and safety systems
Under the skin the A06 rides an 800V SiC (silicon carbide) platform and offers two Li‑ferro phosphate (LFP) battery options — 51.48 kWh and 63.18 kWh — paired with rear motors rated at 120 kW and 210 kW for CLTC ranges of about 510 km and 630 km respectively. A range‑extender variant uses Changan's Blue Whale HE15 engine and delivers roughly 240 km of pure electric range. The A06’s infotainment and vehicle control are driven by a 4nm MediaTek (MTK) 8676 automotive chip; it has been reported that its compute performance is comparable to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295. The Q05 focuses on assisted‑driving hardware, packing one lidar, three millimeter‑wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 11 cameras and Horizon Robotics (地平线)’s Journey 6M driving chip, said to provide about 128 TOPS. Battery safety is addressed via a “Gold Bell” battery protection system 2.0, and all Q05 trims reportedly use Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL, 宁德时代) high‑energy‑density cells with 405 km and 506 km options and support for 3C fast charging.
Where this sits in China’s EV market
A starting price below ¥90,000 places the A06 and Q05 squarely in the value‑oriented segment, but with features — lidar, high‑TOPS compute, 800V SiC architecture — that reflect the premium tech arms race among Chinese OEMs. How competitive will that mix of low entry price and heavy tech be? That’s the question as domestic brands battle each other and international players for volume and margin, all while accelerating use of domestic chips and battery suppliers amid broader U.S.–China technology tensions.
