Reports: Apple iPhone 18 Pro likely to be offered in gray, silver and deep red
Reports and renders
It has been reported that WHYLAB told Chinese tech site ITHome (IT之家) the iPhone 18 Pro series will be offered in three colors: gray, silver and a new deep red. The story included renders created by blogger fpt that visualize the trio of finishes. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reportedly seen the same deep-red tests, noting the shade is achievable because the iPhone 17 Pro’s aluminum unibody provides “more flexible coloring” for Pro-level models.
Design and specs
If deep red is adopted, it would mark Apple’s return to a red iPhone since the Product(RED) iPhone 14 launched in 2022 — and, notably, the first time a red finish would appear on a Pro-branded model. Reports also say the “Dynamic Island” area on the iPhone 18 Pro (a smaller physical hole-punch camera) is about 35% smaller than on the iPhone 17 Pro; otherwise, exterior changes are expected to be modest.
Context
Color choices may sound cosmetic, but they reflect manufacturing and material decisions tied to Apple’s supply chain — the same China-centered production ecosystem that shapes many of its design options. With Apple navigating global trade tensions and component constraints, small changes in materials or finishing processes can have outsized effects on what arrives in stores. Will deep red make the final cut? We’ll know once Apple confirms the lineup.
