Xiaomi Logistics (小米物流) launches large-item “same-day delivery” service in 50 cities

Xiaomi (小米)’s logistics arm, Xiaomi Logistics (小米物流), has rolled out a same‑day delivery option for large household appliances in 50 Chinese cities, a move that tightens the link between the company’s retail, after‑sales and smart‑home ambitions. The service promises customers who place orders before 11:00 a.m. same‑day delivery by 24:00 for bulky items such as TVs, air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines — an uncommon speed for heavy, space‑consuming goods.

Xiaomi Services announced the coverage includes major first‑ and second‑tier hubs — Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Tianjin, Chongqing, Shenyang, Xi’an, Nanjing, Zhengzhou and Wuhan among them. It has been reported that the launch targets 1,080 streets across these core cities and that eligible products will be labeled as “today delivery” on Xiaomi’s official mall, where consumers can confirm availability at checkout.

Why does this matter? Same‑day for large appliances is a logistical stretch: it requires regional inventory, dedicated heavy‑lift teams and tight last‑mile coordination. Xiaomi is essentially moving beyond phones and smart gadgets into service differentiation — competing with entrenched players such as JD Logistics (京东物流) and Alibaba’s Cainiao (菜鸟网络) for customer experience, not just price. Reportedly, faster appliance delivery also supports Xiaomi’s broader smart‑home ecosystem by shortening the time between purchase and installation.

Watch for how Xiaomi balances speed with cost and scale. Will it expand beyond the initial 50 cities? Will fees or installation bundles appear as the program matures? For now, the rollout underlines a broader trend in China’s e‑commerce market: logistics is no longer a commodity, it’s a battleground for customer loyalty and platform control.
