From ¥4,999: vivo X300s debuts with MediaTek Dimensity 9500, ZEISS 200MP main camera and APO telephoto
Launch and headline specs
vivo (维沃) unveiled the X300s at its spring product event, with a starting price of ¥4,999. The new model pairs a MediaTek (联发科) Dimensity 9500 (天玑 9500) flagship SoC with vivo’s Blueprint V3+ imaging chip and a ZEISS (蔡司)-certified 200MP Samsung HPB main sensor. It also includes a telephoto module certified to ZEISS APO standards, plus software features such as film-style filters and an AI “creation” camera for stylized portrait and cosplay shots.
Display, design and performance
The X300s sports a 6.78-inch flagship flat display — the first X-series device to support 144Hz — built on 8T LTPO with a Q10 Plus luminescent substrate. vivo says the panel supports 2160Hz PWM dimming, full-brightness DC dimming and a 2,000-nit peak, covering 100% of the P3 gamut and compatible with native 144FPS gaming modes. The phone is offered in four finishes (titanium black, silver white, film green and “dream core” purple) and uses an “Oreo”-style circular rear camera module; the film-green option features a two-tone back.
Imaging, accessories and other features
On paper the camera hardware is ambitious: a 1/1.4-inch 200MP main sensor with CIPA 4.5-level optical stabilization and a Sony LYTIA 602 long‑reach lens that also claims CIPA 4.5 stabilization and ZEISS APO certification. vivo introduced a “Zoom Flash II” with new LED materials and a claimed 14% higher color rendering index, plus a Blueprint color palette for creating and sharing custom filters. The phone also touts iQOO-like “Monster” performance tuning, a symmetric dual‑1511 speaker array, an upgraded linear vibration motor with vivo’s claim of 32% stronger output, and a compact external G2 teleconverter — roughly lipstick-sized at 153 g and 96 mm — that vivo says reaches the equivalent of 200mm for portrait video.
Market positioning and context
This product launch underscores how Chinese OEMs are blending Taiwanese and domestic silicon with advanced optics to chase flagship features at aggressive prices. Industry observers note that as global chip supply and export controls evolve, manufacturers are diversifying suppliers and emphasizing camera and software differentiation to stand out. Will a 200MP sensor and APO telephoto be enough to sway buyers in an already crowded premium mid‑range segment? vivo is betting yes — starting at ¥4,999.
