Tencent (腾讯) launches Roco Kingdom: World (洛克王国:世界) with 347 collectible creatures and full cross‑platform sync
Launch details
Tencent (腾讯) today rolled out Roco Kingdom: World (洛克王国:世界) across PC, Android, iOS and HarmonyOS, touting more than 50 hours of story and exploration, 347 “Pokedex”‑style collectible creatures, and the start of Season 1, titled “暗夜拾光.” The publisher says the game supports account‑level data interoperability across all supported devices: the same QQ or WeChat account can be used to sign in and continue progress on any platform.
Players should note one important caveat: the live release uses a new client package and reportedly will not accept saves or installs from prior test builds. If you participated in beta tests you need to uninstall the old test app and download the official retail client from Tencent’s channels to log in normally.
Origins and gameplay
Roco Kingdom: World was developed by Magic Cube Studio (魔方工作室) with much of the original team, and is built on Unreal Engine 4. The title positions itself as a successor to the 2010 Roco Kingdom web game, retaining the same world view and narrative framework: players arrive as freshmen of a magic academy, explore an open continent inhabited by creatures and form bonds with those companions as they progress through the kingdom’s chapters.
Why it matters
Cross‑save and multi‑device play are increasingly central to Tencent’s strategy to boost retention and monetise legacy IP. For Western readers: QQ and WeChat are China’s dominant social and account ecosystems, so login choices and data flows are primarily tied to domestic platforms and regulations. It has been reported that Tencent’s emphasis on unified accounts and platform‑agnostic play helps migrate long‑time fans of the original web game back into a modern, mobile‑first market — but also keeps the product squarely within China’s existing app and data governance framework.
Questions remain about international availability and localisation. For now, the rollout focuses on the domestic market and on bringing longtime Roco Kingdom players into a refreshed, cross‑device experience.
