Xiaomi (小米) Notebook Pro 14 high-performance ultra-thin-and-light laptop launched, initial sale starting at RMB 7,999

Launch and pricing

Xiaomi (小米) today unveiled the new Notebook Pro 14 at its spring SU7 product event, marking the company’s return to the premium laptop segment after four years. The laptop is listed from RMB 8,499, with an opening sale discount of RMB 500 bringing the initial purchase price to RMB 7,999; it has been reported that a national subsidy could reduce the effective price further to about RMB 6,799.15. The Notebook Pro 14 goes on sale March 21 at 10:00 local time.

Design and build

The Notebook Pro 14 is built as an ultra-thin-and-light machine: 1.08 kg and 14.95 mm thick. Xiaomi says the chassis uses a one-piece die-cast magnesium-alloy body (claimed 30% lighter), a high-strength carbon-fiber bottom cover, a titanium alloy keyboard support plate and graphene-aluminum cooling fins. Surface treatment is described as a velvet-like finish that resists fingerprints. Four colors are offered: soft matte blue, elegant gray, cream white and a new soft pink.

Performance and features

At the top end the notebook ships with Intel Core Ultra X7 358H (Panther Lake, Intel 18A process) and a 10,000 mm² vapor-chamber cooling system with dual fans and three air channels, supporting sustained performance up to 50W. The 14.6-inch OLED touch display is specified at 3.1K, 120 Hz and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness; the trackpad is listed at 129 cm². Storage is expandable via an M.2 2280 slot up to 4 TB. Ports include Thunderbolt 4 (40 Gbps), a full-function 10 Gbps USB-C, USB-A (5 Gbps), HDMI 2.1 TMDS and 3.5 mm audio. The notebook carries a 72 Wh battery and ships with a 100W GaN charger; Xiaomi claims up to 19.8 hours of battery life and has provided runtime estimates for video and conferencing use, which have been reported by media outlets.

Market context

The Notebook Pro 14 aims to bridge thin-and-light portability with higher sustained performance — a challenge in a market crowded with both Chinese and international rivals. It uses Intel silicon, underscoring how top-tier Chinese laptops still rely on Western CPUs amid broader US–China trade frictions over semiconductors. Can Xiaomi’s blend of industrial design, cooling and cross-device features (remote wake and Pad-based remote control and file editing) win back premium buyers? The company is betting yes.
