vivo (维沃) X300 Ultra / X300s Unveiled
vivo (维沃) has started teasing a camera-first push with two new phones, the X300 Ultra and X300s, sharing a new "film green" color and a design that straddles smartphone and professional camera aesthetics. The company’s product manager Han Boxiao (韩伯啸) reportedly branded the Ultra a "professional V single" (专业 V 单) and the X300s a "super little V single" (超能小 V 单), saying the V series was conceived not as a conventional phone but with camera thinking applied across hardware selection, imaging, video, color and picture quality. It has been reported that this is meant to be a device that truly balances camera and smartphone advantages.
Camera-first design
Both models are said to support a long-zoom mode; the X300 Ultra reportedly adds a new 400 "big‑cannon" telephoto while the whole line will support a new 200 "lipstick" module — metaphors vivo uses to describe focal-length and module form factors. The public positioning is clear: compete on photography and videography in a market where computational imaging has become a key differentiator. Why focus here? Chinese OEMs are doubling down on camera and software innovation as access to the very latest semiconductors remains constrained by global export controls and geopolitical tensions.
Specs and launch
According to Chinese tech site IT Home (IT之家), it has been reported that the X300 Ultra will pack a 2K 144Hz display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8E5 chipset, dual 200MP large sensors and a roughly 6,600mAh battery. The X300s is said to feature a 1.5K 144Hz screen, MediaTek Dimensity 9500, a 200MP large sensor, symmetrical stereo speakers, a larger haptic motor and a roughly 7,100mAh battery. It has also been reported that vivo will unveil the X300 Ultra, X300s and a new Pad6 Pro on March 30, with retail sales starting April 3; the Pad6 Pro is rumored to include a 13.2‑inch 4K panel, Snapdragon 8E5 and a 13,000mAh battery. Can vivo’s camera-first strategy convert interest into market share? The coming launch will tell.
