Huawei (华为) has unveiled the Portable Wi‑Fi X, a battery‑powered mobile hotspot it is marketing as a “super live‑streaming tool” (超级直播神器) aimed at outdoor livestreamers and mobile creators. The device, which reportedly first appeared at the end of 2025, was unveiled at a HarmonyOS smart‑home technology briefing where Huawei stressed portability and sustained connectivity as the product’s selling points. Who is it for? Creators who need stable multi‑carrier connections on the move.
Antenna design and claimed performance
Huawei says the Portable Wi‑Fi X is the world’s first 4x4 terminal and it has been reported that peak uplink reaches 1,000 Mbps with downlink up to 5.3 Gbps. The unit uses a 16‑antenna “portable Wi‑Fi antenna system” arranged in an X shape when deployed; Huawei claims the X layout concentrates beams and increases signal strength by around 13%. He Gang, CEO of Huawei’s Terminal BG, said the X form factor is functional first — “not done to look cool,” he said, “cool is the surface, strength is the core.”
Battery, thermal design and interface
The Portable Wi‑Fi X packs a 12,000 mAh battery and, Huawei says, can support about 20 hours of continuous livestreaming or roughly 24 hours of continuous internet use. The hardware includes large dual‑layer graphene and a high‑conductivity thermal membrane to keep temperatures down during prolonged use, and a built‑in display shows time, battery, signal strength, operator and connection count. These features are designed to address real‑world demands of multi‑hour outdoor productions.
Price, market and wider context
In China the device carries a suggested retail price of ¥2,499, with bundled data plans available — for example a 200 GB package for ¥199. The launch comes as Huawei continues to diversify hardware innovations amid ongoing Western export controls that have limited its access to some advanced components; increasingly, the company is emphasizing antenna, thermal and software integration to differentiate products for domestic and regional users. It has been reported that initial availability will focus on the Chinese market.
